Over 75 volunteers, 60 high profile speakers and topics blended
with some extreme networking – what makes
TiECon Midwest 2009
significant to an aspiring or a seasoned entrepreneur or business
professional. What makes the event the biggest and largest
entrepreneurial conventions in the recent times? Will we weather
the economic climate we have in front of us? What do we do to
change this? As a Michigan resident, can we join forces in
changing what we have today? Moving from the gloom and doom of
yesterday and today, can we bloom into a future filled with
exciting opportunities, new industries and diversified avenues?
TiECon Midwest 2009
hopes to answer all these questions and at the same time help you
make that one decision you have been longing to make: that of
being a successful and innovative entrepreneur.
The Social Media 2.0 has not only burgeoned several outlets for
people to communicate, but has made the community smaller and
richer in its wants and needs. Networking opportunities have
blossomed and business groups have gotten together to work with
the hard situation that keeps getting reinforced in several
meetings and gatherings. What makes you different in this crowd of
individuals? Are your offerings different? How innovative are you
in striking that one relationship that could possibly change your
life forever. Ample networking opportunities to meet with the
business community, learn what’s in and what’s out in terms of
products, speak to your target audience and understand the needs
of the market. Well, that is what the conference will give you.
Aptly titled “The Innovative Entrepreneur: Dare to Explore”, this
highly publicized conference is taking place this year at The
Ritz-Carlton, Dearborn, October 23rd to October 24th 2009.
One such networking group that has revamped its entire strategy
this year is TiE Detroit.
TiE Detroit, formerly called The Indus Entrepreneurs have
re-coined themselves as Talent, Ideas and Enterprise. Armed with a
powerhouse of entrepreneurial volunteers who are business
professionals in reputed fields, aspiring and established
entrepreneurs, this networking group is often called the “bright
spot” of the Michigan economy. These like minded individuals have
come together to help boost the economy in the Midwest region. No
mean task, TiE Detroit has worked the past several months to come
up with topics that mean a lot to the individuals tomorrow.
According to Tel Ganesan, President, TiE Detroit, “it takes
courage and innovation to create a start-up, hard work and energy
to sustain the creation and passion to take this creation to the
next level”.
TiE is the biggest entrepreneurial networks in the world. Its
Detroit chapter has made a vibrant come back this year with robust
volunteers actively involved every month in presenting
panel discussions
with subject matter experts on critical conversations that impact
the community and the business world. According to Kas Bagchi, the
event chair “the purpose behind TiECon Midwest 2009 is two fold:
to create a forceful impact of boosting the Michigan economy by
creating a synergy between entrepreneurs and venture capitalists
and on the other hand to give back to the community what we have
so rightfully earned – business knowledge and expertise using
competitive business tools”.
It is interesting to see how the conference has shaped up this
year. The conference is very important in several aspects. One,
the panel discussions are so varied with some diversified topics
that relate to the present economic climate, featuring Healthcare
reforms, medical tourism and technology, Information Technology as
related to Cloud Computing, Digital Media and a high powered CIO/CTO
panel of experts, Cleantech that focuses on opportunities in
Michigan, venture capitalists investing and Energy storage. And
not to miss, the Emerging concepts that brings together some
conversations on Wireless and Movie industry, opportunities in
Life Sciences and perspective shared by some innovative minds. Do
not miss the
business boot
camp with seasoned entrepreneurs sharing case studies of
the do’s and don’t s of marketing, key 101’s of starting a
business and more…
TiECon 2009 promises to be an explosive package as three specific
segments make their debut. The Women’s Forum encourages women
entrepreneurs to understand the challenges and pitfalls of
starting a business and what to look out for in traditional
set-up’s.
Power
Connect acts as a synergy between supply and demand –
throw yourself amidst top venture capitalists and procurement
heads of companies you haven’t reached before. Their witty tag
line reads “It’s not just what you know, but who you know that
makes the difference”. An excellent podium to catch your next
business lead in action. The
TiE
Midwest 20 Industry Awards has become a huge hit right
from day one. Over 1200 companies registered to be nominated and
20 custom awards will be given at the conference. The subject
verticals for these awards include media, cleantech, life
sciences, wireless and software. The hottest startups will be
recognized throughout the conference. The package as I mentioned
earlier is no doubt explosive and charged with connections,
industry luminaries and power.
Apart from all this, the conference highlights include the
key note speakers
who have made valuable contributions to the community. They are
all big, successful names but remember, they all started small
because they dared to explore the unknown. They all made mistakes
and they all had problems. The reason they are here today is
because of the perseverance and the true wisdom from the oft
clichéd statement – “failures are the stepping stones to success”.
