About the performance: “Mi Anandi Joshi Boltey” is a dramatic self-narration based on the classic Marathi novel “Anandi Gopal” written by Ashwini’s father-in-law Shree. Ja. Joshi. This is a solo performance (Ek Patri Prayog), as if Anandi is telling her own experiences and perceptions from her childhood to death. Anandi was a pioneer of her times, who came to U.S.A. around 150 years ago for medical studies and became the first Indian lady doctor. Gopalrao, her husband, actively supported her endeavor, being totally committed to the idea of women’s education, a revolutionary concept at the time. This is a genuinely inspiring true story of a couple that went through extraordinary hardships to live up to the principles they believed in
