Hindu Temple of Canton’s India Day Fun Fest sparkles and shines!

The Hindu Temple of Canton held its first Annual India Day Fun Fest on August 13th. Despite the rains, the community and the canton neighbourhood joined hands to celebrate India in its diversity. Colors, Flavors, the Sights and the Sounds made this an event to remember.

Thousands thronged the venue and amidst several vendors and several dancers and singers and performers, the community saluted India and the culture and heritage that went with it. Over 200 performers entertained the audience throughout the event. The vendors were very happily displaying their products and the temple came alive with so many young and old volunteers. The spirit of India and the meaning behind our independence and freedom gave a mind blowing experience.
The Hindu Temple of Canton once again did a marvelous job bringing the community together – the blend of east and west was a beautiful sight as every single attendee left home happy with lots of memories. Special shuttles from nearby schools were arranged to transport the community members in a safe and a reliable way. The event started and ended on time and the admission was free.

The India Day Fun Fest at the Hindu Temple/Canton was led by Dhaval Vaishnav and Manoj Sachdeva. The event was well-coordinated by Kirti Karia, the Yuva Bharathi Activities were overseen by Brenda Vaishnav and team who was also responsible for keeping the kids busy with some fun games. Dozens of vendor booths selling latest fashions, jewelry, purses were well laid out. All the vendors were busy throughout the day offering great deals. The entertainment was coordinated by Sonal Chokshi and Jagruti Kadakia and Anu Gopalakrishnan who was also the star emcee for the day. The food was beautifully managed by Hasmukh Patel and Kalpesh Unadkat. Seasoned Keshav Raizada handled the audio-visuals and event logistics. miindia led the marketing efforts with Daxesh Modi who was also working hard with setting up various operations along with Hardik Patel. Trupti Modi and Sakshi Sharma took care of the beverages while Usha Desai, Parul Desai, Jatin Desai and Nitin Desai handled the ticketing. The Parking was so flawlessly managed by Manohar Gaddam while Sarju Shah handled the first-aid clinic. Bhavna Raizada took care of the patriotic theme through her decorations while Jignesh Patel and Dhaval Vaishnav handled the advertisements.

Of course, the entire team of volunteers (who worked hard day and night with a smile on their faces at all times) made this a beautiful memory in the art of time. Until next year, the anklets, the laughter and the colors of India will leave us yearning for more!
