Hindus worldwide are preparing to celebrate Ganesha Charturti on Saturday August 22nd.  Also known as Vinayaka Chavithi (Vinayaka Chaturthi), is a Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of Ganesh to earth.  The observance coincides with the 4th day of waxing moon. The festival is marked with the installation of Ganesh clay idols at homes.  Many local temples organize clay Ganesha making events for kids (this year it will be virtual).

As the Lord of Wisdom and remover of obstacles, Lord Ganesha ranks #1 in the hearts of millions. With the COVID-19 pandemic tormenting humanity, the Hindu community is more committed than ever in observing this Holiday and praying for relief to the world.

Local temples in the metro Detroit area have scheduled celebrations starting August 21 through the weekend.  This year’s events will be constrained by COVID-19.  Temples will observe strict safety protocol. Be safe! Here is a link to 2019 event videos.
