Every year millions get exposed to the seasonal flu during the winter months. Sadly, thousands die. With the COVID-19 pandemic at its peak this year, it is even more important to take precautions to fight the flue. The most reliable preventative step is to get the flu shot.
Eastern Michigan University’s Center for Health Disparities Innovations and Studies (CHDIS) has launched a campaign to educate the public about combating the flu. Under the leadership of CHDIS Director Dr. Tsu Yin Wu, the Healthy Asian Americans Project (HAAP) has created a Public Service Announcement (PSA) and is currently hosting a series of mobile flu clinics.
Nehal Harish and Aleezay Khan, both undergraduate students at UofM Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP), worked with HAAP to help create the animated video. The video highlights the steps you should take to minimize the risk of infection. More importantly, the material highlights the distinctions between the dreaded Covid-19 and the seasonal flu.
