Talented Youth Recognition 2021 – Congratulations!


October 27, 2021 is delighted to publish the 2021 list of talented kids and youth in our community.
For the past several years, has provided a platform to recognize our most amazing, inspirational, and dedicated young people.
Whether it is a talent, extraordinary academic accomplishment, excellence in sports, success in contests or commendable community service we want it to be recognized.

We expect these individuals to write their own success stories and make us all proud.

After reviewing the nominations submitted and taking into consideration individual accomplishments, we have two categories of the talent list:

Talented Youth 2021 High Achiever Recognition - Winners

Simran Adnani

Simran Adnani from Troy is a 7-year-old Science enthusiast committed to community service. She started volunteering when she was 5. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Simran installed several mobile hand hygiene stations for the community and helped educate on appropriate masking and hand washing techniques. Simran also created a game called,” racing the tract” which is available on Apple and Android. The game is a fun and educational way of teaching children about gut microbiome and healthy diet. Since Dec 2020, Simran is running a virtual STEM club where she invites STEM experts to discuss various topics. Her club is growing fast and she wants to invite kids from all over the world to her club. To pursue community service, Simran started a non-profit called S-I-M-R-A-N: A global community.


Niveditha Chandrakanth

Niveditha Chandrakanth is a tenth grader at the International Academy East working toward an International Baccalaureate Diploma. She is a 4.0 student, a varsity tennis player at Athens High School, and is a Student Council representative for her grade. Niveditha is a violinist and has scored a Superior Rating at the National Federation of Music Clubs for over ten years. She is an active performer of the Oakland Youth Orchestras. She has been recently recognized for co-founding an organization, Us For Them (@usforthem.ia), a non-profit organization committed to instilling curiosity and passion for STEAM in the younger generation. Niveditha is an active member of HOSA. She was placed among top 3 in regionals and was recognized as a State Finalist in Pathophysiology!



Rishi Chowdhury

Rishi Chowdhury from Northville won the Grand Award at the 2021 Science and Engineering Fair of Metropolitan Detroit. His project, Combining Spectrums for Ideal Plant Growth, was selected for the top honor in the junior category – for sixth, seventh and eighth graders – by the Science and Engineering Fair of Metropolitan Detroit. Also, Rishi won the 2021 Science Olympiad State Championship in the “Fast Facts” competition. He achieved this feat while competing as an individual against 60 teams from across the state


Rani Dhiman

Rani Dhiman is a Junior at North Farmington High School in Farmington Hills, MI. Rani was appointed as the Lieutenant Governor for the state Junior Optimist Club.

The all-inclusive youth organization sponsored by Optimist International embodies the Optimist Creed, which motivates its members to embrace positive values like optimism and respect for ourselves and others while engaging in community service. Dhiman won her post during the May 26 virtual Junior Optimists International (JOI) Club Annual Convention. She plans to promote equity and equality in clubs and expand the outreach of Junior Optimists in the district.


Vaidehi Dongre

Vaidehi Dongre was recently crowned as Miss India USA 2021. Vaidehi grew up in Troy and is a graduate of University of Michigan. She will now compete at the Miss India Worldwide pageant.


Srushti Gubbi

Srushti Gubbi a high school sophomore is an incredibly talented singer on the rise from Michigan. Srushti has won many singing competitions at national level. She was one of the ZEE TV Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs finalists in 2015. The following year she went on to win ZEE Bangla Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Little Champs at the age of ten. Srushti has had the honor to perform the National Anthem at many sporting events including NFL, NBA, MLB and NHL games. She was honored to perform “America The Beautiful” at US Open 2018 in one of the largest tennis stadium in the world, Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York City. With a huge dream of becoming a well-known performer, Srushti hopes to travel around the world and spread joy through her music..


Deeksha Hadagali

Deeksha Hadagali a 10th grader is the cofounder of a non-profit organization Tutor Time. To overcome the difficulties faced by students in a virtual class, the organization helps students connect with other students in a safe and friendly environment. This organization will give students age 14+ a chance to volunteer and get hours rewarded. Over 100 students have signed up to receive tutoring and 150+ high school volunteers have enrolled to tutor. Deeksha has also raised funds for various charities.


Om Joshi

Om Joshi of Bloomfield Hills is the Co Founder and Co President of a non-profit teaching coding to students. The organization has taught 250 students nationwide. Om received the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award for completing 100+ hours. He also is a Grand Prize Winner at Black Lives Matter Hackathon - coding competition ranking 1st out of 250+ adult and high school participants. Om was also adjudged as the Best of Google Cloud 2020 Winner at Hackathon - coding competition, ranking 1st among Google Cloud created projects. Om qualified for FTC Robotics World Championship in 2018 and was ranked 7th.


Chandravadana Koneru

Chandravadana Koneru a thirteen year old 8th grader at ‘Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School” has won math and science Olympiads. She is a member of NJHAS (National Junior Honor Society) with 4.0 GPA. Chandravadana has earned 32 college credits in Telugu language. She has organized fundraisers for various charities and volunteers at Siliconandhra Manabadi and several other community organizations. She was elected as the president of the “Junior Optimist International Club”. She plays the violin, keyboard, sings carnatic music and is an artistic roller figure skater with medals to her credit. She is an RJ, anchor, and news reader for Telugu radio programs - TNRI and TORI.


Rishi Narendra Kumar

Rishi Narendra Kumar is a talented public speaker and volunteer. He won 1st Place at both his HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) Regionals and the HOSA States Prepared Speaking events while winning the State Finalist and Comprehensive Exam Medal award for DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America). He serves on the board of Key2Finesse, a non-profit, and volunteers as a Life Skills Coach for the North-South Foundation. He has tutored over 70 students in the art of public speaking
To help his school community, Rishi delivered presentations on Teenage Vaping Addiction and Teenage Mental Health topics. Rishi serves as the treasurer for the Community Library's Teen Advisory Board.
This past year, he won the "Outstanding Delegate" award at the University of Michigan Model UN Conference.


Apurvasai Lakshmanan

Apurvasai Lakshmanan a 13 year old 8th grader is musically talented. She set a Guinness record performing 2 hours of Margam Bharatanatyam when she was 5 years old. She can play 20 plus instruments and has performed at local events. She also has excellent academic credentials (4.0). Apurvasai is a member of the school swim and track teams. Apurvasai can read, write and communicate in 7 different languages. Her summer trips to India are dedicated to offering free music and academic classes for needy children in her adopted village.


Saicharen Lakshmanan

Saicharen Lakshmanan a high school senior in Canton is an expert in playing the piano and violin. He has performed at a number of events and has won awards. He helped raise covid funds through Ekam charity. He is a member of the swim team and received the Academia award from NHS. He excels in Math securing 1st place in Math Olympiad competition. He can play 10 plus music instruments.


Advik Madhukar

Advik Madhukar is a eleven-year old 6th grader at Baker Middle School in Troy, Michigan. He has 122 dance and singing performances to his credit with a number of recognitions. He was the 2019 Michigan (Indian) Idol winner in the acting category. At the International Indian Icon ( 3i ) in Chicago he won 1st place (Judge’s choice award) in the category of acting. At the Science Olympiad, he won 1st place in ‘Weather or Not’ and 2nd in ‘Reflection Relay’. He has won recognition at various community events for singing and acting during the last few years. Advik has also performed at virtual events to raise funds for COVID-19 relief.


Ved Muthusamy

Ved Muthusamy is a rising senior at Northville High School. His geography bee awards include 2017 NSF Senior Geography Bee Nationals 5th Place, 2018 International Geography Bee Worlds bronze medal, 2019 International Geography Bee Nationals silver medal, 2020 International Geography Bee Global Summer League gold medal, 2020 International Geography Bee Nationals silver medal, and 2021 GeoElite Nationals silver medal. He won a second-place Diplomacy Award in the GVMUN conference, one of the most prestigious Model UN conferences in the world. He also volunteers, teaching geography at NSF, teaching tamil language at Tamil school. He also serves on Michigan Tamil Sangam’s Youth committee and GeoElite a national geography organization.


Anagha Nair

Anagha Nair, a Junior at Troy High School founded “Break the Barrier” a non-profit organization. The purpose of this organization is to help Detroit and surrounding communities, break economic, racial and technology barriers with focus on needy children. Anagha volunteers her time to raise funds and provide service to various organizations. Anagha is a varsity tTrack athlete and an A student. She is also the recipient of the coveted PVSA( President's Volunteer Service Award) and Academic All State Honors in track and Field. She also graduated in piano and Bharatanatyam.


Tanmai Nimmagadda

Tanmai is a rising senior at Detroit Country Day, an exceptional academic student, a perfect scorer on the ACT, a captain of the varsity mountain biking team, a researcher, a musician, and a volunteer at a hospital and community service organization. He started tabla at a young age and is about to receive a bachelors degree in arts. He also started a non-profit organization, in conjunction with the Sai Baba Temple of Livonia, called Santa’s helpers with the goal of providing Christmas gifts for underprivileged children in the metropolitan Detroit area. He is currently working as a researcher for the past two years doing COVID related work in the field of OBGYN using embryonic stem cells. He is a national scholastic award winner in the field of jewelry making. He is an active volunteer at hospitals and various community outreach programs.


Navya Paingol

Navya Paingol is a freshman at University of Michigan. Navya won the Miss India Teen USA 2021 title. This is the first time a Michigan resident has won the title. Navya will now compete at the Miss Teen India Worldwide pageant.


Kanal Patel

Kanal Patel – Kanal was recognized by Brandeis University with a Book Award as a student in the top 15% of their class who has a strong commitment to civic engagement, community service, and volunteering. Kanal has achieved success in multiple statewide competitions like HOSA (To 8) and Forsenics (Top 3). Kanal serves as an executive officer for the National Honors Society at her school. Kanal also serves as an executive board member for Key2Finesse, a student-run nonprofit, since 2019.


Pranavi Pullela

Pranavi Pullela is a Senior at Canton High School in Canton, Michigan. She demonstrates academic excellence and is on Canton Varsity Golf Team. She is active in community outreach programs, a board member at Youth Volunteer Corps and Guiding Light. As co-president of her Guiding Light chapter, she organizes enrichment programs at a shelter for women and girls. She is a regular volunteer at Cass Community Social Services in Detroit. As an accomplished Kuchipudi dancer she has performed at several charitable and community events and organizations around Detroit metro, and dance festivals in other States. She won first place in the regional dance competitions organized by TANA. Pranavi completed Junior and Senior Certification in Kuchipudi, with first class distinction (32 Credits), from Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad. She was awarded the title “Narthana Achintya” during Margazhi Kadambothsavam 2021, by Rangaramanuja Veekayes Cultural Council, Chennai.


Sanjana Ramesh

Sanjana Ramesh - 7th grader Sanjana won the Canadian Mathematical Gray Jay Competition with a Gold award for perfect score. She competed against 2,200 international students. Sanjana has achieved success in other math competitions including Gauss Math Competition, Math Kangaroo and North South Foundation regional competition. Sanjana is also an accomplished chess player. She has started teaching chess to younger children.




Vaibhav Ramu

Vaibav Ramu a 10th grader this fall at Plymouth high school in Michigan is an accomplished Carnatic music vocalist and keyboardist. Vaibav has been performing carnatic vocal and keyboard concerts in and around the Detroit area since 2017. He has performed at numerous events in India and USA. He won prizes in vocal and keyboard categories at Cleveland Thyagaraja festival, Sangeet Samraat Papanasam Sivan Competitions, Indian Raga contests etc. Vaibav has also won awards in western piano competitions.


Shivika Rao

Shivika Rao a Junior at Troy Athens is the founder of “Break the Barrier”. The purpose of this organization is to help Detroit and surrounding communities, break economic, racial and technology barriers with focus on needy children. Shivika volunteers her time to raise funds and provide service to various organizations Shivika is a high school swim and dive athlete and the recipient of the Scholar Athlete Award. In 2018, Shivika was nominated to represent her then middle school at the Ambassador Leadership Summit, which she attended at Harvard University. Besides Break the Barrier, she actively volunteers with SAY Detroit, A time to Help, a non profit charitable organization founded by renowned author Mitch Albom.


Dhruv Rathod

Dhruv Rathod of Novi (11 years old) is passionate about music (Hindustani classical and American pop). Dhruv has contributed his time and talent at various fundraising events in the metro Detroit area. He has performed at the Detroit Pistons pregame shows including the singing of the National anthem. Dhruv participated in 3iii global singing competition and came 1st in Michigan. At the age of 8, Dhruv was recognized for outstanding character by his school (5th grade). Being bullied early on, young Dhruv embraced music, which he feels is therapeutic and healing.


Divya Reddy

Divya Reddy, 17 years old, Valedictorian, 4.380 GPA, Williamston High School, Williamston, served in several non-profit and Community organization Boards since her 9th grade years - Youth Advisory Council, Lansing, Tri-County Community Foundation, Williamston Chamber of Commerce, Youth Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS to name a few. With a passion for dance choreography she started a Dance Club in 9th grade and ran it for 4 years. She published a cancer research paper when she worked for the University of Michigan Medical School while in 10th grade. She was one of the 15 students selected from 44 States for the 6-year MD program direct from High School at University of Missouri, Kansas City. She was also recognized ' Youth Upliftment Spotlight of Excellence' award as Chair of Youth Advisory Council responsible for awarding millions in grant dollars for youth organizations.


Arjun Saini

Arjun Saini is an incoming 9th grader at Northville High School who has received numerous academic awards and volunteered for various charitable causes. He is the Worldwide Winner of Airport Design Challenge sponsored by Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). He was elected as the student council president at Hillsdale Middle School for 2020-21. Arjun was the Main lead of Team Aireos - recreated a local Airport GFR (Gerald R Ford International Airport) on Minecraft, added innovations per FAA guidelines. Arjun was a winner at the Northville STEAM Fair. He has volunteered for various charity efforts.


Ria Saini

Ria Saini is an incoming 6th grader at Hillside Middle School. She is an avid gymnast and has won awards in both local and regional competitions in all 4 categories (Michigan Elite Gymnastics Academy). Ria won Vocal and Piano Duet awards (American Music Guild). She created a PPE recycling plant to win the innovation award at the STEAM fair. She was placed first at the Science Olympiad Regional Elementary in all four events. Ria also won the President’s Academic Excellence Award for excellence scholastic achievement.


Hemanth Tadepalli

Hemanth Tadepalli, a student at Kettering University has several academic accomplishments and related leadership roles. Hemanth serves as the Student Body Vice President of Kettering University and Management Dean’s Advisory Board. Hemanth is a fellow of Kettering LEADERS which accepts less than 1% of the student body. With interest in Business and holding a minor at the University, Hemanth placed 1st in the state of Michigan for the Collegiate DECA Business-To-Business Marketing event and placed top 10 Internationally. With a Major in cybersecurity and his interest in autonomous technology, Hemanth is one of the leaders for the Autonomous car team, AutoDrive through the Society of Automotive Engineers. Hemanth served as President of the Model United Nations chapter at Kettering and represents the delegation at Harvard University each year.


Sridevi Swaminathan

Sridevi Swaminathan a 9th grader from Troy is actively involved in community service. After visiting Tamil Nadu Government schools in rural India through TNF and spending the day with the students at the schools, she got an idea; to form an organization that helps empower girls and women in India. She founded a non-profit registered organization called Make Today Matter. She helped raise funds to provide sanitary products. Sridevi also teaches girls in India, learn spoken English online through the organization USKids4Water. She volunteers at Michigan Tamil Sangam’s Tamil School and has received President's Volunteer Service Gold Medal Award.


Mukta Sri Sai Sathwika Uttaradi

Sathwika, a freshman at IA is multi-talented artist, she is a singer, bharatanatyam dancer and can play the Carnatic/Western violin. She has performed in Carnatic vocals/semi classical in different stages in various places including in India, UK and the US. She has performed for multiple charities in India and local temples in USA. She also volunteers for Michigan Foster Care Closet. She won various awards in academics which include multiple best delegate awards from Module Un, awarded 4th for regionals in Science Olympiad and has awards from different platforms in Science Olympiad, Word masters and Quiz bowl.


Samyuktha Vijayakumar

Samyuktha Vijayakumar of Canton is an accomplished dancer and a school varsity swimmer. She has won first place in the Papanasam Sivan dance competition for 4 consecutive years. She also participated in a dance program to raise funds for the Lupus disease foundation. As a swimmer, Samyuktha has achieved success in the 50 meter breaststroke category. Samyuktha is actively in involved in community service too. As a member of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) she helped women's shelters.


Talented Youth 2021 Emerging Talent - Winners

Jaydeep Jawahar Dalvi

Jaydeep Dalvi from Northville is part of the advanced learning program at his school. He has won recognition/awards for painting, running and science at various events. He has a blue belt in Taekwondo.


Krish Ghosalkar

Krish Ghosalkar helps run the non-profit Key2Finesse. Krish is active in fundraising for various charities including Gleaners Community Food Bank and Gift of Life Foundation. Krish also helps with online tutoring program to bridge the gap made through remote learning.


Sahaana Janakiraman

Sahaana Janakiraman is an outstanding 7th grader at Power Middle She is a multi-talented and has a keen interest towards painting, dancing, book reviewing and singing.
Sahaana won the first prize at the International Tamil Book review competition (1 minute video) conducted by Bharathi Puthagalayam in India. She reviewed 'Kanjan Kadhaihal' a tamil book which was liked by thousands of YouTubers. She also inspires younger kids to read books.


Aryan Khedkar

Aryan Khadkar is a 6th grader with talent for spelling. He has won 1st place in the North South Foundation regional spelling bee competition. He also has won 2 international Abacus and chess competitions.


Govindasai Lakshmanan

Govindsai Lakshmanan of Canton tutors elementary and middle school kids for free. He is a talented musician with the ability to play 10 plus instruments. He has participated in a number of charity events to raise funds.


Aditya Madhukar

As a well-rounded student, Aditya is not only good at sports but also excels in academics.
His interest in robots and engineering pushed him to join his school’s robotics team, the Benzene Bots. He plays a crucial role in the team as the designer and builder of the robot. He and his team got the 2nd place at the Alpena High School Robotics Competition.
Aditya won 6th place in the OAA Blue League Division Championship for the 100 yard freestyle and has accounted for numerous points for his Athens High School swim team. In addition to swimming, he was also a runner for the Athens track team with an excellent record.


Alaina Pabbathi

Alaina Pabbathi of Okemos is high school junior with academic excellence. She is proficient in playing the piano achieving Royal conservatory of Music , Canada level 5 in both practical and theoretical content. Alaina volunteers at church by teaching young children. She also has creative artistic skills with painting and pencil drawings; her paintings were selected for Ingham country art exhibition. Alaina plays varsity golf too.


Shivani Swaminathan

Shivani Swaminathan is gifted and multi-talented 8 year old. She has been learning and performing Indian Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, and Bollywood dance on stage since age 5. She won second prize at Troy Public Library Poetry Contest, first prize in poem recital, drawing content and numerous awards at Kumon. She also volunteers her time at language school library and has written Tamil short stories.


Christian J. Thomas

Christian Thomas – Senior at Henry Ford II High School is an outstanding Varsity basketball player. He is an Honor Roll student and serves as the Treasurer for AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) Club.


Mukta Sri Sai Rithwika Uttaradi

Rithwika Uttaradi is a Freshman at Troy high school . She is multi-talented. She is good at playing the violin , singing , and Bhartanatyam . She has performed at many temples and organizations such as Swaravedika . She can also sing in more than 5 languages. She volunteers her time for several charity organizations


Aditya Yogesh

Aditya Yogesh from Sterling Heights won the Grand prize in 2021 Kid’s Clean Water Calendar Contest organized by Oakland County Water Resources Commissioner (WRC). He is passionate about clean water awareness. His work has been recognized by a number of publications such as Oakland Press, Troy Times, Oakland County Times and PBS’s Great Lakes Now Television show. He won the 2021 Poster Contest organized by the City of Troy for the theme – All in This Together relating to the pandemic. He plays the piano (Superior rating) and has a Taekwondo yellow belt and is rated Level 5 in swimming.
