As Michigan is starting to recover from the COVID-19 crisis, it appears that schools and colleges will start to reopen in August.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer made an announcement last week that Michigan Schools may reopen for in person classes with strict safety measures in place. The governor also announced that on June 30th, she will release an executive order and a robust document called “Michigan’s Return to School Roadmap” that will provide details on what will be required and what will be recommended for schools.
Several Universities including University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State, Oakland University, Eastern Michigan, Western Michigan, Central Michigan etc. have announced that they will reopen for in-person classes. It is likely that class sizes will be reduced along with other restrictions. Nevertheless, parents and students in our community continue to be concerned about the health and safety of the students.
Many Day care centers are now open with strict guidelines on COVID-19 safety protocol. Large employers in Michigan are extending their work from home policies thus enabling parent/s to take care of their children at home for now.
Let us hope that the situation continues to improve in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned for more updates.
