I am a music teacher.
I am a North Indian classical music teacher, teaching from the basics of classical music/ Hindustani Shastriya Sangeet. This includes vocal training with surs and identifying swars that is needed for melodious singing.
I teach bengali Rabindra Sangeet and Nazrulgeeti to interested students.
However one is comfortable to learn, I try to accomodate with them. So far, my students have learnt very well and are thorough with their basic 'theories' of music and of course gained knowledge with singing style.
My students 'learn to play harmonium, key-board' very well within a short time, those are essential with vocal music, as accomapanying instruments.
With the help of my electronic tanpura and tabla, my students gain a thorough knowledge with sur, taal and laya, the essentials in music.
I always go with each student's pace and accomodate them as is convenient to them. I teach 'one on one', from the comfort of my home in Novi.
With Covid, online/zoom training and learning is going very well with no concerns.
I am having 'in person' sessions with those students (adults) who are fully vaccinated, hence immunized.
With children, if their family is vaccinated, I do take 'in person' classes.
I give lessons on any and all 7 days a week, at a mutually convenient time.
I have been giving music lessons for the last more than 20 years in US. I have performed in several places.
I had learnt music from a very early age of 4 years from my family. Then under the tutelage of several teachers in India. I had attained B.Muse in both Hindusthani Shastriya Sangeet and Rabindra Sangeet with distinctions under 'Prayag Sangeet Samiti', Allahabad board of music.
I would encourage all interested adults and parents of children to call / text/ email me with any questions that you might have, if you are eager to learn or start to learn again.
Thank you so much for your time.
