As you are perhaps all too aware, today we are faced with a number of global environmental challenges. Being a tropical country, India is deeply affected by climate change and its rivers are seeing dangerous levels of depletion. As an agricultural country with a billion-strong population, India is on the threshold of a grave ecological and human crisis.
One of the simplest and most effective solutions is to create a kilometer-wide green cover on riversides which will increase the level of groundwater through tree root percolation as well as enhanced precipitation. Furthermore, the implementation of a new law is of essence—one that involves a large economic outlay, a new way of thinking and living for riverbank populations.
As an effort in this direction, Sadhguru is initiating "Rally for Rivers" in September 2017, aiming to create nationwide awareness about the need for a mandatory regulation that takes into account the entire spectrum of issues surrounding the solution, including economic and livelihood aspects.
